Mind Blade
Foundation/Purpose
Mind Blade has 3 Objectives
Establish behavioral agency
Exercise human potential
Establish that potential in the world
Objective 1: Establish behavioral agency
Agency refers to the ability to consciously direct or influence something.
Behavior refers to human behavior. Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Social actions.
To establish behavioral agency means to gain and stabilize the ability to consciously direct or influence your physical, mental, emotional, and social actions.
Without behavioral agency, a person becomes prone to self-sabotage and self-destructive behavior.
Imagine that every day when you wake up, you have 100/100 energy, and throughout the day, that energy gets spent on different things.
When that energy is spent, it creates something permanent.
When we lack behavioral agency, it means that most of this energy is spent unconsciously, building things that we don’t want.
Driven by inherited patterns and trained habits.
Suppose 80% of your energy is spent unconsciously on undesirable behavior, and only 20% is spent consciously on desirable behavior.
In that case, it will seem like no matter what you do, your life is in a downward spiral.
In situations like that, it doesn’t really matter how much willpower or effort is expended within that 20%, because the 80% outweighs it.
Until this ratio is reversed, it will feel impossible to make progress. Even the most effective strategies will fall flat.
The perfect course of action is useless if it’s only followed 20% of the time, and undermined 80% of the time.
For this reason, the first objective is to establish behavioral agency.
Objective 2: Exercise human potential
Human Potential refers to the unique human capability to grow and improve.
Exercising your potential means exercising your capacity to grow and improve.
The goal here is to direct established behavioral agency towards exercising one’s potential.
Without doing this, it is easy to get stuck in a sort of “intermediate hell” in life.
To continue the energy example, you could think of a 50/50 split between undesirable unconscious behavior and desirable conscious behavior.
Things may appear stable, they’re no longer spiraling downward, but growth has stalled.
Being stuck in this position can be more difficult than being in a bad position because the bad position is more pronounced and demands to be addressed.
When everything seems great on paper, but growth has stalled, this is a difficult situation to overcome.
So the second objective is about exercising potential so that growth remains steady.
Objective 3: Establish that potential in the world
Once a person has established a certain level of internal stability, the next step is to build it into the world.
Since we live in an economic society, this expression is almost always tied to one’s work. (career or business).
If it is not, it becomes nearly impossible to fully express oneself in the world.
The third objective is about how to effectively move through the world.
The first two naturally lend to this, but the third is about addressing more detailed and nuanced strategies.
A good analogy for how this fits with the other two objectives would be to imagine a person is given a workout plan to follow.
If they are supposed to do 3 workouts per week at the gym, the first objective is to make sure they actually go to the gym 3 times per week.
If they only show up once, then how well the workout is performed or what the workout actually is matters much less.
The next objective would be to make sure they perform the workout with proper form so it creates results.
After they’ve consistently gotten results, then there can be more exploration of new exercises or routines that might be tailored to specific goals or weak points.
These three objectives follow a similar progression.
Establishing behavioral agency means being able to consistently act in a particular direction.
Exercising human potential means making sure this agency is used in a way that gets consistent results.
And establishing that potential in the world means exploring more detailed and nuanced ways to progress toward a variety of particular goals.
These three objectives form a fairly straightforward progression.
The goal of Mind Blade is to encourage and support these 3 objectives.
